"But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way. For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth."

John 4:23-24

The Vine Worship Team Application
How to get started

Thank you for your interest in serving in worship ministry here at The Vine.  We are excited to get you involved in using your gifts to serve the Lord here!

Worship is a very important and vital part of our ministry at The Vine and we are commited to helping our congregation worship the Lord in a meaningful way.  We have many volunteers that serve in a variety of roles (music and tech) and all are valuable members of our team.  Playing or singing on the worship team is an up-front, leadership position of ministry, and we are held accountable by God's Word to limit the platform to growing Christians who are walking consistently with the Lord.  We believe that leading worship for the church is a holy calling and as such, Godly character and integrity are as important to us as musical skill.  We do not "hire out" for any of our positions on the team - we instead prioritize using members of our congregation to serve.

Once you decide to begin the process to serve on the worship team, please fill out the application below.  An interview and/or audition will follow.  All volunteers at The Vine are required to complete the volunteer packet which can be picked up at the info booth in the church lobby - this process involves completing a Core 1 class, mandated reporter training, signing a covenant contract, and fingerprinting.  You do not need to have this all completed prior to applying to serve, but it will all need to be completed before you will be able to serve.

Feel free to reach out to me (Clark Wilson, Director of Worship Arts) with any questions.

Worship Team Values
Our Core Values

Participation

We value congregational participation during our worship time.

  • Lead people into the Lord's presence without drawing attention to ourselves

Health

We value the spiritual health of our worship team members.

  • Godly character and integrity
  • We can't lead the congregation to a place on Sunday that we ourselves have not already been to throughout the week

Excellence

We value musical and technical excellence and skill.

  • Excellence influences impact

Empowerment

We value empowering volunteers to serve on our worship team.

  • Providing opportunities for many volunteers may impact how often you serve

Worship Volunteer Expectations

Godliness in lifestyle and choices

  • Worship ministry is a position of leadership.  Please expect to be held accountable.

Involvement with the community of The Vine.

  • We expect that anyone serving on the worship team is a regular attender of The Vine
  • Serving on the worship team should not be your only connection to The Vine - we expect our volunteers to be connected to their church community in other ways (i.e. Home Groups).

Communication with the team

  • All scheduling is done through Planning Center.  We expect all worship team members to use that platform to communicate availablity in a timely manner.
  • Be open and responsive to communicating with the worship leader and other team members through text or phone.

A Commitment to showing up on time for rehearsals and services

  • Rehearsal time is often short and therefore, it needs to be efficient.
  • Punctuality is not only courteous, but also necessary.

Preparation of musical material before showing up for rehearsals

  • Songs and charts are posted on Planning Center in advance.  Worship team members are not only expected to practice the material available online, but also to practice regularly and be growing as a musician.

Sensitivity and Modesty in dress

  • This is a highly visible ministry serving people with a wide range of taste and spiritual maturity.
  • Aim to be presentable when choosing clothes that express your personal style; please dress modestly and neatly.
  • Please avoid clothing that could be divisive with our congregation (i.e. politics, secular bands, alcohol).  Remember that the point of everything we do in this ministry is pointing people to Jesus.

Submissiveness to the worship leaders and church leadership

  • We are looking for team players who are willing to serve wherever the need is and where their areas of giftedness allow, who are willing to submit to their servant leaders.
